Full Description:

North Light Yacht Club will hold a fishing tournament in the summer of 2011. The “North Light Swordfish and Tuna Challenge” is scheduled to take place June 16 – 19. The tournament, which is open to center consoles and sport fishing boats of all sizes, will feature premiere Swordfish, Tuna, Dolphin and Wahoo divisions, with opt in categories including Blue Marlin. North Light has chosen to make the Blue Marlin division non-premiere as a conservation effort. Mark Waltman, tournament director, believes that the tournament will be a great opportunity to enjoy a weekend on the water while giving local and traveling tournament anglers the chance to compete for large prizes. “The North Light Swordfish and Tuna Challenge will bring a new annual event for the local community to look forward to. Fishing is an equal opportunity sport: short, tall, old or young, everyone has a chance to catch the winning fish.”

The event will begin on June 16 with a Captain’s Meeting and Kick-Off party at North Light Marina. Fishing teams may depart from any location along the Gulf Coast; however, a registered representative must be in attendance at the Captain’s Meeting. Weigh-ins will be held on Friday, June 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 18 from 7 to 10 p.m., with all weighed fish going to support a local food bank. The event site will be open at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and will feature children’s activities, an art show, food and a sponsor village. The tournament will wrap up with an awards ceremony breakfast to be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

For additional information on the tournament or to register, please visit www.NorthLightChallenge.com or call Mark Waltman, tournament director at 850-678-2350.

Sponsorship opportunities are now available for the tournament, with community sponsorship levels starting at $250. For more information on sponsorship packages, contact Kelley Carducci, tournament coordinator, at 850-678-2350.
